Mega Festival celebrating the emancipation of our enslaved ancestors, which took place on June 19, 1865. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was signed years before, the news did not get to Galveston, Texas until 1865. It is recognized as “Freedom Day” and events take place all over the country. Come enjoy presentations, gospel singing, corn hole tournament, battle of the DJs, Greek Step Show, Taste of Southern Soul Food Vendors, support black owned businesses and entrepreneurs, enjoy our kids zone, and end the night with the Taste of Southern Soul concert featuring Lyfe Jennings, Shaun Milli, and West Love. A full day of fun and entertainment for the whole family!
